If you want to keep your HP audio in good condition and bring you the best possible sound experience, you should download or update the latest correct version for your HP audio drivers in your Windows computer.

If your HP audio drivers are not working properly, for instance, the driver is missing or outdated, you should also update your audio drivers in your HP laptop to fix the problem. Many people have resolved the HP audio driver issues with the solutions below:

Try these fixes:

Note: the screenshots below come from Windows 10, but the fixes also work on Windows 8 and Windows 7.

Method 1: Update HP audio drivers manually

You can download the HP audio drivers manually from the HP support center or from the audio device manufacturer.

Before getting started, you should know clearly the audio device and the operating system information in your HP laptop or notebook.

1) Go to the device manufacturer website, for example, you can go Intel download center. Here we’ll take the HP support center as an example.

2) Search for the device driver that you want to download from the manufacturer’s website.

3) Go to the drivers page, and select the latest correct version of your audio device, and compatible operating system (in my case it’s Windows 10 64 bit), and download it.

4) Run the downloaded file, and follow the on-screen instructions to Install the driver in your computer.

This method requires time and computer skills. If this method doesn’t work for you, don’t worry. We have other solutions for you.

Method 2: Update HP audio drivers in Device Manager

You can also update your HP audio drivers via Device Manager, where you can view and manage the hardware device and the driver software in your Windows computer. Here’s how to do it:

1) On your keyboard, press the Windows logo key and R at the same time to invoke the Run box.

2) Type devmgmt.msc in the Run box and click OK.

3) In Device Manager, double click Sound, video and game controllers to expand it.

4) Right click on your audio device, and select Update driver.

5) Choose Search automatically for updated driver software, and follow the on-screen instructions to finish.

Still no luck? Okay, there’s one more thing to try.

Method 3: Update HP audio drivers automatically (Recommended)

If you don’t have time or patience to manually download your HP audio drivers, you can also do it automatically with Driver Easy.

Driver Easy will automatically recognize your system and find the correct drivers for it. You don’t need to know exactly what system your computer is running, you don’t need to risk downloading and installing the wrong driver, and you don’t need to worry about making a mistake when installing.

You can update your drivers automatically with either the FREE or the Pro version of Driver Easy. But with the Pro version it takes just 2 clicks (and you’ll have a 30-day money back guarantee):

1) Downloadand install Driver Easy.

2) Run Driver Easy and click Scan Now button. Driver Easy will then scan your computer and detect any problem drivers.

3) Click the Update button next to the flagged audio device to automatically download the correct version of this driver (you can do this with the FREE version). Then install the driver in your computer.

Or click Update All to automatically download and install the correct version of all the drivers that are missing or out of date on your system (this requires thePro version– you’ll be prompted to upgrade when you click Update All).

Device

4) Restart your computer after updating, and you should have your HP audio drivers up to date.

If you’ve tried Driver Easy, but the problem persists, please feel free to contact our support team at [email protected] for further assistance regarding this issue. Our support team would be happy to help you resolve this issue. Please attach the URL of this article so we could assist you better.

That’s it. Hope this post comes in handy and helps in downloading or updating your HP audio drivers in Windows.

Hardware devices need drivers to function properly. Most of these drivers are installed automatically by Windows 7 but if this is not the case these drivers need to be installed by the user. Opening the Device Manager (available in the Control Panel) will tell the user which hardware drivers need to be installed by marking them with a yellow exclamation mark.

Installing drivers
Some of the drivers can be installed by Windows Update but when this offers no solution the drivers have to be downloaded from the manufacturers website. There is also an option to install the drivers from the CD/DVD accompanying the hardware, but in most cases it is better to download the most recent version (even if Windows has recognized devices by default it is wise to install the most recent version). Most downloaded drivers install automatically by running a setup procedure and reboot the computer. If this is not the case, the manual will explain how to install the drivers.

Track unknown hardware with CPU-Z
If it's not clear which device drivers need to be installed for the motherboard? In most cases, the information stored in the BIOS can be of help by tracking the exact type of motherboard and the therefore needed device drivers. To find out the type of motherboard, the free tools CPU-Z (download: www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php) and PC Wizard (download: www.cpuid.com/pcwizard.php) are very usable. CPU-Z shows quickly the type of processor, motherboard and RAM-memory, and PC Wizard shows a list of all the devices. This information is of great help to search the internet for the device drivers of still unknown hardware.

WINDOWS VISTA DRIVERS CAN BE USED AS WELL

For Windows 7 Microsoft has used the Windows Vista driver model to prevent compatibility problems (as happened with the introduction of Windows Vista). Therefore, hardware which functions properly with Windows Vista works with Windows 7 as well. If there are no Windows 7 drivers available, the Windows Vista drivers can be used as well. Although it is not the best option, it is also possible to use the Windows XP drivers (as an example: the wireless adapter on my old laptop didn't work with the drivers installed by Windows 7 while the original Windows XP worked fine).

RESTORING THE PREVIOUS DEVICE DRIVER

Installing a new device driver is not risk free and new device drivers do not always function better. In those cases, the previous driver can always be restored by right clicking the device in the Device Manager and to select Properties, tab Driver, button Roll Back Driver. If the computer continuously restarts it is not possible to roll back the device driver. This circle can be broken by pressing F8 at the beginning of the boot process and to select Disable automatic restart on system failure.
